Why do I need to add new content to my website?

Fresh new content is one of the most important aspects of any website.  Your website may look fantastic and be super easy to navigate, but content is what your customers are really interested in.

Whether you call it News or Blog, you need to ensure your content is informative, high quality and of value to your site visitors. Adding poor content can actually have a negative impact. It is also important to ensure that you add new content regularly, for reasons which we will explain in more detail below.

Driving New Traffic to Your Website

Many businesses rely on traffic to their websites for business growth. If you want to sell your products, sell your services or raise brand awareness, you need traffic. Adding fresh new content on a regular basis will result in increased visibility on search results.

The higher the visibility in search results, the more traffic you will receive.

Returning Visitors

If you want your existing customers to return to your website (which is just as important than attracting new ones), then constantly updating your valuable content is crucial. That returning visitor may not have purchased the first time they visited… they may do the second time. It’s about building trust, if they find your content engaging they will return to read more.

Create Good First Impressions and Build Trust

If your blog/news page is out of date with nothing new for your visitors to read, it doesn't give a good first impression. Keeping it up-to-date keeps you relevant, on trend and well regarded. You want your visitors to think of you as the ‘place to go’ to read the latest in your industry.

Your Social Media Strategy

You can share your news and articles on your social media platforms as part of your social media strategy to drive further visitors to your website. This is a great way to increase varied content on your social platforms as well as build your social following. Sharing your business news can also establish you as an expert in your particular industry.

Visitors to your news or blog post may also share on their own social networks, this will increase your reach which in turn will increase visitors to your website. The more visitors to your site, the more likely you are to increase customers and conversions.

Outbound and Inbound Links

Links are majorly important on posts. If you have an outbound link on your post, the more likely you are to receive an inbound link back. Inbound links are gained naturally by who you’ve outbound linked to linking back to you. This will help to grow your audience further, build brand awareness and increase traffic, especially if your posts are dynamic, engaging and aren’t too self promotional.

Content and SEO

Keeping your website up-to-date with fresh, engaging content is imperative for SEO purposes. The more frequently you post, the more content there is for search engines to index. Ranking well is not all about your pages being indexed, there’s lots more to it than that, however, your pages need to be indexed in order for them to appear in search results.

Keyword rich content will help to optimise your pages. The more search words as possible will help drive more traffic to your website. These keywords need to be used carefully however, it can have a negative impact. Your posts need to be written to be read by a human being, not a search engine. If people land on your post and it isn’t readable they will leave your site, thus letting the search engines know that the content isn’t relevant.
